Alexandria ocasio-Cortez is a Democratic Socialist who was elected as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district in the November 2018 elections. She won her election by defeating ten-term incumbent Joe Crowley in the Democratic Party primary, making her the youngest woman elected to Congress in history.
